The incident took place on Thursday afternoon at “old education trust fund building” (ETF 1) which is the examination venue for faculty of social science as the female victim lost consciousness after being chased by her lecturer who did not control his state of mind at that time owing to the fact that students can be disrespectful and rude most time.
The exam in question according to reports was in progress as students were all seated peacefully penning down answers while invigilators, supervisors and exam coordinators of the university monitored.
Drama started when the female victim was caught in an act against rules guiding examination which empowered Professor Richard Egbe of social science faculty to take back her answer booklet, it was gathered that the female student uttered provocative words to the lecturer.

Why Imo State University Owerri Do Not Run Professional Courses Such As Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Among Others Finally Made Known

Edit This

Three key courses that are capital intensive and money demanding which imo state university owerri is currently running have been identified to be Engineering, Medicine and Law.
Imo state university owerri the noble home of great stars, blazing the trail in quality education has regained full and professional accreditation for some of its disaccredited courses to run for another five academic years.
One of the long terms serving officers of the institution for twenty-one (21) years and currently the director of academic planning professor Nathanel Chukwusimkwuo Ohazuruike who spoke during a confabulation to Elijah Madubuihe detailed four criteria as necessary for any academic programme  to run either on interim or professional accreditation in the university.
According to the one time head of department of crop science, the prerequisite is Academic fitness, Physical, staff qualification and library condition saying that 70% must be scored in the highlighted areas to enable any programme or department gain accreditation in the school.
Professor Nathaniel who also happens to be one time dean of the faculty of agriculture when asked lamented that Imo state university despite being the noble home of great stars and blazing the trail in quality education do not offer some professional and essential courses such as pharmacy, chemical engineering, veteran medicine among others.
The university Don credited the short-coming to lack of adequate resources stating that the courses are money demanding, capital intensive and at such demand sufficient resource to effective its running, recalling that Imo state university is the only state university in Nigeria offering free education.
The professor re-stated confidence that professional and full accreditation will soon be recovered for the faculty of medicine as efforts are already in play.

Fake Beggars Pretending To Be Blind Arrested In IMSU

Edit This

WRITTEN BY: MR. ELIJAH MADUBUIHE

DOWNLOAD VIDEO OF LIBRARY SCIENCE STUDENTS THAT RECENTLY GRADUATED IN IMSU HERE
Students must beware of the latest antics many fake beggars have employed to deceive people especially students of hard-earned money feigning to be visually impaired and scotched as many of them have built their tent in IMSU.

Combined effort of men of the Nigerian police force attached to the main gate of IMO state university owerri have uncovered swindle activities of a particular group who devise crooked means to command sympathy and scoop kindhearted students of their hard earned money all in false pretense of being blind making mockery of the people.

The security men who nabbed the false beggars at the university gate were deployed majorly to curtail exploitative activities of cult boys within the university community during the second semester examination.

Luck ran out of the group when they were called out by a student who identified one of them to have approached him some time ago at ETF building claiming that he lost his wallet containing transport fare and needed help to continue his journey and now seeing the same person among the group asking for help to conduct Professional oculus care for alleged blind eyes.

The group have been publicly photographed and taken into custody, students are warned to be mindful as the issue of corporate and false begging is now in high swing in IMSU even though God gave injunctions in the Bible to provide arm and help to those who are destitute and less privileged.

Educational Video Games and Their Effects on Students - Guest Post

Edit This

Guest  Post by written by Bella Liam

Certain studies have provided us with a detailed connection existing between the ordinary video games usage and the poor accomplishment of students at their schools. Moreover, many experts consider that only the educational video games are useful for students, not the rest. Furthermore, many people say that students, who are having difficulties while learning in school, probably prefer to waste their time in front of the useless and ordinary computer games because they bring a diversion for them.

Studies on Educational Video Games and Students

In the recent years, many scholars and social scientists have tried to investigate the relation between ordinary video games and academic achievements. One such popular study was conducted by Robert Weis and Brittany Cerankosky. They chose a sample of some young students, who did not possess these ordinary computer games at their homes (Weis and Cerankosky, 2010) and compared their behavior with those who did possess these video games at their homes. They observed an impact of this difference between the two groups. The group one, having computer games (particularly the non-educational ones), invested less amount of energy in their homework or assignments. They were seen to be diverted and used to spend most of their home time on the computer games. Furthermore, the grades of these students showed decline and the teachers reported issues with their academic performance too.

Contrastingly, there are also studies which validate that educational video games sharpen the mind of the students and create a better understanding of the concepts. However, scholars recommend that the caretakers / parents should always keep a watch on the amount of time their child is giving to the game or the computer. It should be fixed. For instance, one hour everyday is fine. Secondly, they can create a rule for this leisurely activity too. For example, the child should know that he/she is allowed to play the video games only when he/she has finished his/her daily homework from school. In this way, the game would serve as an incentive which the child would have earned. It would also make him/her cherish the time given and he/she may utilize it effectively by playing constructive educational games.

The Content should be Educational

Many scholars have also concluded that the impact of a video game, on a student, depends on the content of that video game. Hence, experts suggest that educational video games are permitted for students. Moreover, they recommend that the parents should keep a check on their kids. They should be aware that what kind of video games they are playing. If they contain any kind of obscene content, then they should remove it immediately. However, if the content is educational and relates with their age, then the children should be allowed to play them. Such pedagogical games would help the concepts stay in the mind of the child. Furthermore, they will help the student to gain exposure to a new language and to new words as well. Thus, with careful check and balance, video games can be helpful for students.
